Video Analysis: Tools and Resources for Coaches and Athletes
Limited to 20 Participants
Since most of the information we receive is through our eyes, visual feedback is a critical part of learning a new skill or providing feedback for both advanced and novice athletes. Video analysis has also become crucial in coaching for both individual and team sports. Simulators such as the MAT-T 3-D Golf Simulator provide an instantaneous 3-D image of the athlete’s swing. Such analysis tools have revolutionized traditional video analysis and will pave the way for future coaching methods. This workshop will provide hand on opportunities to explore various video analysis tools and work with experts in the field.

Virtual Coaching: A New Approach to Athlete Development Through Collecting, Storing, Retrieving and Effective Utilization of Visual Databases Over Distance

With the increase in the globalization of sport, so is the demand for sharing feedback over distance. Expert feedback, whether synchronous or asynchronous can be a vital asset to an athletes training, particularly those in rural areas. This workshop provides the opportunity to experience new and innovative ways of sharing resources, feedback techniques and video via synchronous distance delivery using the World Wide Web, ACCESS grid and wireless technologies.

Motion Analysis Technology by TaylorMade (MATT)
Limited to 8 Participants
The Motion Analysis Technology by TaylorMade (MATT) system is a revolutionary advancement in club fitting and golf instruction.  It marries TaylorMade Golf’s advanced knowledge of golf equipment design and player performance assessment with the leading motion capture, modeling and analysis technology developed by Motion Reality Inc.
The MATT system is also a significant innovation in motion capture technology as it is perhaps the first sports-specific motion-capture system designed to be easy to use for both the subject and the operator.
This workshop will consist of a demonstration of the MATT systems capabilities for club fitting and golf instruction. The entire procedure of preparing a subject, collecting swing data, presenting a club recommendation, and using the system for swing analysis and/or instruction will be demonstrated. System capabilities, including ball launch parameter measurement, club and player movement tracking and playback, 3D animation based teaching tools and real-time motion capture will be demonstrated and their applications in club fitting and golf instruction will be discussed.
